My sister immigrated to Canada 2 years back on PR basis . We applied for a visitor visa of my mother in September 2016 which got rejected on grounds of travel history and no relevant documentation on family relationship. Later on we again filed for visitor visa through an agent in November 2016 but it again got rejected on same grounds.

We filed for information via access to information act and received their reply in which we found that main reason for rejection was due to major variation in name of my mother in her documents and my sister's passport and other documents. We had submitted an affidavit as well regarding the name variation.

Now I have also gone through express entry and will be leaving for Canada in a few days.

What documents should we provide to CIC to prove family relation with our mother with regards to her name so that her Visa gets through? Please advise.

Regards

1. How different is your mom's name in her passport and in the birth certificates/passports of yourself/your sister?

2. Has your mom already applied a third time for a TRV?

Hi

Please find my replies as below:-

1. My mother's name in all her documents including her passport is Ratni Devi. While in my and my sister's documents its Ratna Chalhotra. Only in my birth certificate which is in my native language her name appears as Ratni Devi.

2. No my mom has not applied for TRV for the 3rd time. We wanted to clarify this issue first and then go on for applying her TRV.

Please guide.

Thanks

Hi,

You'll need to include:
1. Birth certificates of yourself + your sister. You'll need to translate your birth certificate into English by a certified translator

2. Copies of passports (yours, your sister's and your mom's)

3. An affidavit stating that 'Ratna Devi' and 'Ratna Chalhotra' are the identity of the same person. The lawyer will have a standard format for this. The affidavit must list the documents/proofs of identity in which the name differs from the name in her passport

4. Your parents' marriage certificate (to indicate the change in her name from maiden name to married name, if that's the case)

Cheers
