Rejected for insufficient funds

Anyone get rejected for having insufficient funds? If yes, by how many dollars did you miss the required amount. If I take what I had in cash minus credit card debt the total amount available on the day of application was ~ CAD 250 less than amount required (Due to exchange rate fluctuation).

I am wondering how strict they are with POF?

Thanks

You won't be rejected because of $250.
People usually get rejected because of unusual transactions.

Or if their balance is way less than the minimum balance

The money stated in POF should be equal to or above the minimum needed to support you and your family set by CIC at the time of submitting application. From what I have read on this forum, you do not need to disclose the credit card debt if it was not specifically taken for the purpose of immigrating to Canada.

Always keep more funds than required. In past also many have been rejected due to fluctuating rates. Always play safe

POF is just like other requirements. If you dont have the funds you need to have, than you are not eligable and definitely can be rejected on those grounds.

Yes, this is what I expect. My issue is this: two weeks before my application I had almost 500 CAD more than my required amount at that exchange rate. A month before I had close to 800 CAD more than the threshold.

I can just hope the officer does not apply the letter of the law, otherwise I am out!

What I am trying to establish is the margin of error that you can have, based on previous rejections or acceptance of POFs. Has CIC actually told anyone they missed the mark by a few hundred dollars so they are not accepted?

Processing officers should apply the principles of procedural fairness (PDF, 1010.93 KB) when determining whether applicants meet program requirements for settlement funds.
