Hello guys,

I was rejected based of my immigration status, I have recently completed my schooling from UAE and decided to apply for UNI (may intake) in ontario. I have been living with family since 2012 in UAE. (Currently on resident visa) Even though I explained in details about my family ties here and my full family living here for many years was still rejected. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you are applying from a country where you are living temporarily, it's typically more difficult to be approved and you need to make sure you have a strong profile. It's hard to give you any advice without knowing your full profile.

- What is your country of origin?
- What is your previous education?
- What is your planned program of study in Canada and which school?
- Do you have any previous work experience and if so, what?
- How much did you / your parents show in proof of funds for your education?
- Do you have travel to to countries requiring visas like the US and UK?
- Did you include IELTS and if so, what were your scores?

It's more difficult to get a study permit approved if you are going for a low level of study in Canada and aren't living in your home country. Your selected school in Canada is also not a university - it is a college.

If you really want to study in Canada now, then my recommendation is that you change your program to a Bachelor degree at a public Canadian university (stay away from private universities).

Otherwise I would recommend that you wait until you are back in your home country before you apply. Or alternatively complete a Bachelor degree in the UAE first and then come to Canada to complete a higher level of studies after that.

Why don’t you attend a university rather than a college? Take a Degree in IT or Comp Sci. Your first post said UNI. This has a higher chance of approval given you are not showing any of your own funds and you don’t live in your home country. You still need to show career opportunities that are available to you in your home country.

I cant join University as I didnt do A levels instead I had done B TEC level 3 diploma which is equivalent to A levels. But Canada doesnt accept B tec , thats why my agency suggested me to join College which is same courses as first 2 years of uni and I would be able to join Uni directly for 3rd year.

I dont think my course is lower level then the one i have completed before, Previously I have done B TEC Level UK - equivalent to A levels and I tried University of Manitoba but they rejected admission as they dont accept students with diploma. So with the current college St clair i could finish 2 years and join 3rd year of uni directly.

Can you take an additional program in the UAE and then be accepted into the University of Manitoba directly?

When I said the diploma was low level, I meant low level in general. Not as it relates to your past education.

Yes I could take that option, but for changing my immigration status what If i renew my resident visa now and show then 1 year or 2 year validity of UAE visa? Do u think that could work?

I havent searched for that yet, cause my agency said i could directly join but priority was to complete the 2 years first.
I think your agent is lying to you. If you were taking a computer engineering/software program, you may be able to transfer credits but to gain admission to a university, you still need to meet admission requirements. Two years of computer technician program is not going to get you into a Canadian university.
