Hello guys

am NOC 2151 Architect , it's a regulated profession , in almost all provinces.

1) is it harder than others professions in the immigration evaluation process ?

2) In what cases ? EE , pnp , am really frustrated,

plz help , because it starts to become complicated.
cos my ECA is bachelor in Architeture (WES fmu, I have a Master degree in architecture ) , I understand that my degree does not give me the right to practice in canada , but will this NOC penalize me ?

No, if you apply under FSW the process the threshold is the same as any other profession. Your NOC will be the same and it does not matter whether your have a license to practice in Canada yet. However, in your application you will be asked if you have a license to practice in Canada and at that stage you will have to answer No.

For a regulated profession it is very difficult to get a PNP. So you will have to apply under the EE FSW. You cannot change your NOC as it also has to correlate with your experience you are claiming.

I am a lawyer and I used the NOC for the lawyers and the process is the same. So relax and don't make it any more complicated that it already is.

thank you legalfalcon ,
am applyin under EE pnp
fact is am low CIC score 328 , my only chances could be NB pnp (Priority 1: French CLB7+) or PEI pnp , I sent EI for these 2 provinces since i have the EE pnp Score 67+

so you think that in my case , it's very difficult to be nominated ?

The PNP will depend on the labor needs of the specific province. However, if you do qualify under the Skilled Worker Family Support or employment stream, you will be very lucky. Most of the people I have seen here are those who have got the PNP under the labour impact assessment for specific NOCs. In most cases the NOC list never has a regulated profession.

I am not saying it is impossible, you may get lucky, but unlike FSW where if you have the requisite points you ae good to go, here wou will have to wait for them to pick you.

So keep your hopes high and try and increase your scores if you can so that you can qualify for the CEC or FSW.

the fact about regulated professions is that you have to work under the supervision of a person who has the Professional licence until you get your own.

Yes, this is only for "ENGINEERS," not all regulated professions. Regulated professions also include doctors, lawyers, pharmacists, physiotherapists etc. Not all of them need to work under a licensed professional until they get their license.

This post started for an architect and the credentialing information is available here: http://www.ncarb.org/Getting-an-Initial-License/Foreign-Architects.aspx

You are lucky to have French CLB7+, My wife also in the same profession looking for PNPs, and we don't know French too. My wife's score is 377 and still seeking for different options in PNPs. I hope NB to open for all in months, I heard few people got nomination with regulated professions from NB too.

On the other hand, Architects are different from other regulated professions. They can work as a Junior architect, or assistant Architect, or Drafting Person in any consultancy firms/real estate and do not require license for these. Only restriction is that they cannot design as main Architect, thus they require License.

I've also looked forward with the licensing procedure, and found out that it cannot be done without being in Canada, and without at least 2 years of Canadian work experience.

Please let me know if you get the nomination, I'm really worried about our situation as well.

Could you please share the informational source confirming that it is difficult to get PNP if your profession is regulated? I work as a trademark agent and after upgrading my EE score up to 448 pts in late December I received a PT interest letter from Ontario. I need to know how low my chances of getting Ontario nomination are and what can be done at this stage.

I believe you will not have issues as OINP did not set any NOC requirement, yet it may get more time than usual for you to get the nomination.

Hi Tanit,

I am in the same boat as I work as an architect in Abu Dhabi. After asking several architects in Canada, I concluded that I had to apply as an Architect Technologist (2251) as I don't qualify to be an architect right away in ON. My guess is that if you are an AIA licensed in the US then you will be automatically qualified to be an architect in Canada. Do your research though...I may be wrong.

If you are practicing a profession which is regulated in Canada you will still apply under the same NOC. Its does not matter if you need a license to practice in Canada.

Eg. A doctor qualified to practice in Singapore will apply under the NOC code of a doctor even though he will have to get re-licensed in Canada. Similarly, a lawyer qualified to practice in India will use the NOC for a lawyer.

As a lawyer qualified in the US and India I used the NOC and there have been no issues.
