Dear friends

I am working in Vancouver Canada since 2016 with one year contract(LMIA) which ends on 2017 March, but a few months back my employer broke the deal in between because of lack of projects, They requested me to search for a new job, and because of the layoff I was jobless and looking for opportunities in Canada since November 2016 with the same work permit (not working).

Now my job permit is getting over in a week, and I have my Temporary Residence Visa which valid till March 2018.

My few concerns are below, requesting to please help me with your Knowledge and suggestions.

My work permit is getting over this week, and I have talks happening with other two companies.
If I get an offer letter from any of them, can I stay in Vancouver and apply for Restoration status later.
Or do I need an approved LMIA to stay?

My work permit is getting over this Sunday, Do I have to leave Canada?.

if I stay for 90 days ( restoration period)will it affect my PR application in future?

Any help you could extend in this regard would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for the time and attention.

Sincerely
Thanks in Advance

Yes you do need a approved LMIA in order for you to apply for a work permit. And overstaying will not reflect well in any future PR or work permit application

Hi Wonderland_1010

Thank you so much for the reply and sharing the information so quickly.

If you don't mind can you please clarify one more thing.

As I mentioned before Currently, I don t have any job offer, and my work permit expires this week.
If I didn't get any offer letter anytime during this week.
Can I stay in Canada without a job until the new job offer comes?
I have a valid Temporary Residence Visa until August 2018.

sorry to bother you again.

I would appreciate any suggestion/advice.
Thanking you in advance for your help,

sincerely
Augustine

If you stay in Canada beyond your work permit expiry without doing anything, you will be in Canada illegally. Having a valid TRV does not in any way allow you to stay in Canada.

You need to apply to change conditions and extend your stay as a visitor before your work permit expires.

...and once you've applied for extension, you're legally permitted to stay until they've made a decision on your application.
