Regarding Customs

I have searched previously but I can't seem to find a clear answer and it worries me slightly.

I spent a month in Canada, visiting my boyfriend and his family. Made the decision to move to Canada now, but without a job offer I couldn't get a work permit, we decided that id search for a job offer while I'm there (we know where I could go but I'd have to go personally) and go through the process in Canada while I stay with a visitor visa.

My concerns are what documents should I bring and show to customs, or is it just like my last trip and bring my passport only. My other concern is lack of a return ticket. Last time customs asked me how long I'm staying, not sure if I have to tell them a date or just outright say my intentions.

I am a US citizen with a passport.

You are not allowed to "move" to Canada. All you are allowed to do at this time is visit. If border officials think you are trying to move to Canada without authorization, it's possible you could be refused entry into Canada - even banned for a year.

Make sure you pack like a tourist. Don't bring everything you own. And don't bring things with you that would indicate you are trying to move. Not having a round trip ticket may be a problem or it may not be (having a return ticket would be ideal). Ideally you should also make sure you carry proof of ties to the US that you can show (if asked) to prove you have no plans on remaining in Canada long term.

Thank you for the quick response!

What are possible proof of ties I could bring?
Ideally things like: proof of employment, proof of school enrolment, proof of property ownership/rental, proof of other assest held in the US.
