Hello,
A student has studied in an undergraduate program up until the final year in his home country when he decides to study a totally different undergraduate degree in Canada. So will all the years wasted in the undergraduate program be considered study gap? Does this hinder the chances of visa? The student does not want to continue or finish the degree he is currently in.

Any help is appreciated.
Regards

IMHO, that student would not appear as a legitimate student. If he/she cannot finnish that final year (when its already the final year), how can he/she convince the VO that he/she would finnish his/her Canadian program?

Just my opinion, though. Others may comment as well.

I agree with the above poster. People have gotten rejected based on the reason that they didnt finish their studies and want to begin somewhere else. The VO will assume you will not finish if you go to Canada either and may reject.

It’s more advisable to finish the degree and apply for Masters in Canada.
