Refusal due to insufficient funds. but no dependents

Hi there,

I have been shocked to see that some people were refused due to insufficient funds while having no dependents on file. I understand that Form IMM 1283 was only to be completed to see if they can asses if SP can support PA with dependents.

Can you help me guess the reasons for refusal?

There are situations where spousal sponsorship without dependents and with insufficient income can lead to refusals. While there are technically no income requirement, IRCC can still refuse the application if they have concerns the sponsor won't be able to financial support the applicant and the applicant may end up on social assistance. These situations are not at all common but they do happen. One example could be where the sponsor is on disability and the applicant is not working.

Are you employed? Have you been employed longterm? Have you ever been on welfare?
