When did you apply. We want to know the date or how many days it took to be send you after you requested the RTD
I haven’t got my travel document yet. I am still waiting for it. It was delivered on March 20th, start processing on March 21st and than approved and printed on April 22nd.

Hi everyone,
I submitted my application to renew my travel documents on March 14, and they received it on March 15 (it was registered shipment by Purolator), but I haven’t received any updates so far. I’ve contacted their office twice, and both times the agents informed me that nothing appears in the system under my file.
I’m wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and could offer advice on how to properly follow up with them.
Thank you in advance for your help.

You applied as urgent or as regular processing?

Anybody who has applied recently. How long did it take for your application to be processed and for you to get your RTD? I just wanna know what are the processing times nowadays.

If you're a refugee or asylee, traveling internationally isn't as simple as using a regular passport. That’s where the Refugee Travel Document comes in — a special travel document issued to individuals who have been granted asylum or refugee status.

Here are the most frequently asked questions and answers about Refugee Travel Documents to help you understand how they work, how to apply, and what to expect.

What is a Refugee Travel Document?

A Refugee Travel Document is an official travel document issued by a government (e.g., USCIS in the United States) to refugees and asylees, allowing them to travel internationally and re-enter the country legally.

It serves as a substitute for a passport and is recognized under the 1951 Geneva Convention.

Who Can Apply for a Refugee Travel Document?

You are eligible to apply if you are:

  • A refugee or asylee in the country (e.g., USA, Canada, UK)
  • A permanent resident who obtained status through asylum or refugee protection

Note: You must not use a passport from the country you fled, as it may be seen as re-availing protection from that government.

How Do I Apply?

In the U.S., the process includes:

  1. Filing Form I-131 (Application for Travel Document)
  2. Submitting supporting documents:
    • Proof of refugee/asylee status
    • Photographs
    • Government-issued ID
  3. Paying the applicable fee (unless exempt)
  4. Attending a biometrics appointment

Processing time varies but typically takes 3 to 6 months.
