Is it necessary for reference letters to have company stamp and should it be notarised? Some of my referees have moved on to other jobs and do not have their old business cards and the old company official email addresses. The people currently working there have joined after I left and don't know me. Is it okay for the referees to mention their personal email address and mobile number on the company letter head?

You can request the HR that you need a reference letter from the organisation, and let them reply back to you that they do not follow such policy. Document it and you can show it as proof that you tried to source the reference letter from the organisation and they have declined the request. Preferably you should have the reference letter signed from current employees/seniors. But in case if you have ex employees signing the letter for you, it is good to have their service details documented separately; relieving/separation letter, joining letter etc. Notarise the documents and the reference letters. I know of people who have even submitted photographs from official events, in addition to other service documents, to show that the employee worked with the organisation. The more documents you can evidence, the better are your chances. :)

I am having a similar question but i dont think that the letters should be notarized and all these documents are not neccessary, but i think senior members can give more info

I don't know anyone in the HR of the previous companies and can't ask the current company HR as it will give them signs that I am planning to leave the job. I have company letterheads with me and I plan to ask me referees to type and sign the reference letters. Since they have moved on, I would use their gmail addresses and mobile numbers. Is this okay?

Hello Xpressentry, you have already letter head means ??
Please don't do any things means bypass to HR or your Manager. Kindly note that they will contact your company or even your Manager as well. Yesterday I got the reference letter from my previous employer and I have had company letterhead also but I prefer to go HR to provide me reference letter. In future if they will contact your company and if any mis interpretation observe then you will be in big trouble.

Option 1:- Ask HR to and get reference letter on company letterhead. First send mail to them that I need reference letter on letterhead,. If all things are good then it's Great for you. But this things should on letter head your job duties as per your NOC, Time period, weekly hours of your work, last designation at the time of left company, your salary package, company seal and business card whoever signed on reference letter if possible to collect also.

Option 2:- if your HR to refuse to provide reference letter on letterhead then tell them to reply my mail that we couldn't provide you on company letterhead. Please note this mail should also attach your application while you are going to send CIC. Same letter copy print on A4 page and sign by your colleague or Manager but don't forget to do company seal and collect their Company ID card or business card .Lastly , notarised this letter.

If you go to option 2 then your have to show your appointment letter (employer contract), salary slips, company experience letter. This things need to attach and also need to add letter of explanation in this.

I personally think that please go to option 1 it's good to show only one letter rather than more letter.

Hope it helps.

I am in the same shoes with you OP. Getting reference letter is almost giving me a heart burn. We do nothing in emails, every contact with HR is verbal where one has to be physically present. Therefore, I cannot get anything in writing regarding lack of letterhead and stuff.
