reference letter

I like to know do I need my supervisor to issue me a reference letter with company letterhead and real signature in order to complete my profile for EE. What if the supervisor only give me the electronically signed letter? Will that cause scrutiny ?
Can someone kindly send me a link of the standard Canadian format reference letter?
