Reference Letter Validity

Hi,

I have an overall experience of 2 years in NOC 2173. I got my reference letter from my employer i am currently working with on July 2017. I got my ITA on Jan 24 2018. Can i submit the reference letter i got on July? Does it have any validity as the content is very generic and includes my Pay, joining date, roles and responsibilities and my benefits and there is no change in the content as of today.

Kindly help me with this.

First, you should move to the Express Entry section of the forum.
For your question, since this is your current employer, you'd better get a more recent letter, otherwise, how would the IRCC officer know that you are/were still working with the same company for the past 6 months after 7/2017?
When did you complete the 2 year work experience? If it is after 7/2017, then you should definitely get an updated letter to show that you completed 2 years with that company. If it is before 7/2017, then you may get away with the letter you have. Good Luck!

It would have been okay if it was for one of your previous organisations. Since this is for the current org, it is highly recommended to get a latest reference letter.

If i am unable to get a recent reference letter on my company letter head as they take more than a week what is the alternative I heard a notarised document helps? Kindly advise me on that

The letter shahould be recent.
And it should follow a very strict template that CIC requires.
Otherwise high chance it will be rejected it asked down the line.
The letter would include joining date, leaving date if applicable, hours worked per week, job position and title, full time or not, fairly detailed job responsibilities.

And it must be on company letter head which shows company name, address, phone number and email. If these are absent en get it typed along with contents of letter. It should be from HR or your immediate boss. Letter should be not older than 2 -3 months at time of submission.

You can ask one of your colleagues to give you a reference letter if it is possible. Otherwise mention in the LOE why it is not possible for you to obtain reference in company letter head as prescribed by CIC.

In this scenario you have to provide additinal documents to strengthen your case. Past 2 months pay stubs are a must, include your joining letter. Give links on your company website detailing job responsibilities for your designation, include bank salary statement for last 12 months. You can also include tax statements for last 2 years.

Please note without letter on company letter he'
ad in the set format, there are no official rules regarding what you have to do. So it will depend on discretion of visa officer. But if you can show all of the things I listed above, most probably you will have a smooth sailing.
