Hello
I know that I appear to be in a lucky position, and I am not taking that for granted, but I need advice.
I have been working on the assumption that my CRS would be 448 (having a law degree, being a professional degree required for the practice of a regulated profession). WES have assessed my law degree as a canadian equivalent batchelors degree only. So my CRS score has been decimated.
However, I also completed a diploma in legal practice (1 year) which is a required course to be a lawyer. And in fact I was a practising lawyer for 3 years.
I really do not understand why I do not qualify for the 'professional degree required for a regulated profession'. My assessment (and please let me know if I am wrong) is that my diploma will qualify me, at worst, for the '2 or more degrees etc' classification. On this basis I will have 441.
This leaves me borderline. I have been waiting to have a few months of the required money in my account and this is fine now. However, I also am awaiting my updated WES assessment (to include the diploma which I didn't include previously if I didn't think I needed it).
Can anyone shed light on why a law degree (and, indeed, the fact that I actually practised a regulated profession for 3 years) does not qualify me for the full CRS for this?
Also, if I decide to accept that 441 is the CRS I am entitled to. Do I need to wait to receive the updated assessment to apply? If it is 441, obviously I want to get my application in ASAP.
Thank you for reading, and again I accept that I am in a lucky situation.
