Redo the medical examination?

Hello everyone,

I applied for PR under the CEC class in August of 2011 and my application got rejected. I am planning to apply again under common law. My partner (Canadian citizen) and I have been living together since 2008.

My question is whether I should undergo a medical examination again. Can I go to the same doctor and ask for my record? Does anyone know about this? I know I have to get my criminal record from my country though.

Thank you for reading this.

Your medical has to be within 3 months of the application being sent so yes, you need a new one.

I don't think the guide says medical needs to be within 3 months, and it does not say anything about medical needs to be unique for each application either.

Personally I don't see any problem with the one you did last year, as long as it's still within 12 months from the date you took the medical. You may need to redo the medical down the road if the application is not completed by the 1 year anniversary of your medical.

PS: Police cert needs to be within 3 months.

Thats not true Parker 24. Ours was beyond 3 months and it is ok. It is valid for one year and if your application runs longer than they request a new one.

Hello everyone,

I asked the same question to other people as well and the general consensus seems to be that it is valid for one year.

So does that mean that I don’t have to submit it at all (as the government will have it on file), or I need to request my doctor to submit it again?

Thank you so much for reading and answer my question. I appreciate it so much.

Do you still have a photocopy of the copy 2 that the doctor gave you (original in green). You need to mail it in together with the application as a proof that you've undergone a medical.

Ok. I just called the doctor’s office as I wasn’t given the second copy as proof. They said I need to bring one passport size photo as well as Appendix form C. They will be able to provide me with the second copy as proof. I also called the CIC to confirm this. They said just submit the second copy as well as an explanation letter. That is all. Thank you for your help!!!!

Yes it is true your medical is valid for one year. However, if you got your last medical last August, you have only until then to complete the entire process before it expires. My advice is just go ahead and get a new one done now to avoid any delays later. It is unlikely if you apply now, to receive your visa, and to arrive in Canada before your medical expires in August.

Re: Redo the medical examination?- Resolved!

Actually, I was mistaken. It was done in October, so it is valid until October 2012 and when I spoke to the CIC representative, she said I can just go ahead without undergoing another one. But you have a good point. I need to think about that. Thank you.

If you are applying from a country with faster processing times, then you MAY have enough time. Keep in mind, after receiving visa you still need time to arrange flight to Canada, and tie up any loose ends etc. If you run short on the timeline, you could experience more of a delay if you have to get a new medical, then send in and process etc. Consider your options carefully. Nobody likes unwanted delays. Good luck

I live in Canada, but I agree that I might have to undergo another which may delay the process. I will keep that in mind. Thank you :)
