Hi: Are the rules governing receiving a renewed permanent resident (PR) card still the same? As I understand it, the initial PR card COULD be sent to anyone in Canada, and then forwarded to the PR outside the country, but not the renewed PR card. The PR card holder must be physically present in Canada to receive a renewed PR card. Is this still the case?
My spouse resides with me abroad for the present. And we have a young boy. So requiring all of us to troupe to Canada mainly to pick up a renewed PR card would be inconvenient and expensive.
So, if the rules have changed to allow a renewal application to be submitted from abroad, and have the PR card sent to the PR abroad, I'd be interested to hear that.
