Hey there people ! Today , I received an admission offer from university of victoria for Master of Engineering in Electrical & Computer Eng. , I am also expecting a positive reply from Queens University for the same program but for January entry & my preference is Queens ( because I can get an ONTARIO PNP PR so that I can live in Toronto , after completing my degree i want to live only in Toronto,no other city)
My question is that if i accept u of victoria's offer and complete all the process ,get the visa , but in August i receive offer from Queens & I decide to go to Queens :
1.Will I have to notify the visa office ?
2. Can it ,in any amount, be a reason for rejection of visa ?
3. What additional paper work would i need to complete, if any ?
(I am from India)

Hi,

As per current official CIC rules:

As a post-secondary student
You may change your school, program and/or field of study without applying for a new study permit. You do not need to apply for a change to the condition of your study permit, either. You may continue to use your study permit as long as it is valid.
If you are changing your level of study (e.g., bachelor's to master's), you do not need to apply for a change to the condition of your study permit, either.

So, provided you get accepted at Queen's... just show your offer letter, and officially withdraw from Univ. of Victoria.

By the way, Univ. of Victoria is also a world class university, and there's no guarantee that you will be able to stay in Toronto after studying at Queens. You are expecting to get PR under Ontario Master's stream, which is a pilot program (can shut down anytime) with only 1000 applicants being accepted every year, and considering so many Master degree students come out of numerous Ontario universities, it can be difficult to get accepted within that year...and on top you will have to show a minimum balance of 11,086$ in past 6 months ...on your bank statement, to qualify directly under the ON Master's stream PNP, without a job offer. Which means..an extra expense/ bank balance ..you will have to maintain in your bank account... apart from the tuition and living expenses.

Best of Luck.

thank you for your reply , In case I withdraw from victoria just before start of the program (after completing whole admission process ) , Will I be able to get full tuition fee refund ?
btw , if I study at victoria , then after completing the program , What are the ways to live in Toronto & get PR(THROUGH Ontario PNP or other scheme)

same here i've too changed from victoria to univ. of toronto , i dont think there would be any issue in your plans except you will have to find a job if they shut down ontario PNP through masters program and apply for pr through Canadian Experience Class, also check out uvic job placement in your program , if uvic has good placement , u can get a job , why would you quit uvic, i think its a reputed univ. in canada

Hi,

You will get full refund (after deducting cancellation fees), if you withdraw from Univ. of Victoria before their withdrawal deadline. Every university has it's own set of rules and deadlines for withdrawal procedure. Check the Univ. of Victoria website for more info.

You can apply through ON PNP Master's stream, ONLY if you study Master's at a ON based university.

After completing M.Eng from Univ. of Victoria or any good university, if you can find a SKILLED job in Toronto, then you will have to work full time in that job for 1 year, and then apply for PR under CEC.
