Hi All,

My wife received her CoPR and on the actual CoPR it says valid until 2014-03-21 -- so I assume we must get to Canada on or before that date?

We are trying to finish things up in the States and are having trouble figuring out when to cross. My question is -- can we enter any province or do we have to enter the province we selected (Alberta). Once we cross the border the first time, what happens next? I believe we wait for a PR Card. Can my wife return to the states before getting this card? How long does the card take to receive?

I was thinking we would just fly up for a weekend to Calgary, return to San Diego after a few days and then pack up our stuff and make the drive later. I was hoping for some guidance on the process!

Thank you

Jonathan

Yes, you MUST do official landing before the expiry date.

can we enter any province or do we have to enter the province we selected (Alberta).
You can do first landing anywhere in Canada. No need to be same province you have as address in the app (only exception is Quebec).

Once she lands, it takes around 2 months to receive the actual PR card in the mail. PR card must go to a Canadian address.

Until she receives the card, she could just travel back and forth from US as a visa-exempt US passport holder. Canada immigration officer will be able to see her PR status on their computer.

I would suggest you read the CPP Ottawa thread to obtain a lot of useful info from those who have done just this before. You can enter Canada and "land" at any Port of Entry including airports and return back to the USA and move your things later. However you will need to complete B4 forms documenting the items that you will bring into Canada later. Other posters with experience in this can provide you with more details I'm sure. Receiving the PR Card takes around 60 days or more. Congrads on your successful processing.
