Hello.

I finally received my passport with a PR visa and landing documents. HOWEVER.... there is an error- my birth place was wrong!!!! Back in June 2010, I sent a request to amend this info with my medical results but it was never corrected.
I've been told that there are some examples if you try to make a landing with a documents with wrong info, you might be rejected.
I emailed the Canadian Consulate (in NYC) which was processing my applications regarding how to correct this error but still haven't heard back from them.

Has anybody experienced the same thing??

This is crazy that my PR has been proved but I can't make my landing yet!!!! :-[
I've been so stressed out and frustrated without knowing what to do next....

Please help me!! Thank you.....

If it is my case I will land and notify the error to the interviewing officer. He can update some information of the PR Visa holder while landing if necessary. Error on the place of birth need not be considered as a serious issue now. Otherwise you have to return the whole package to them and wait for the correction.

Thank you very much for your answer, Wilson.

I am actually in Japan right now and have a representative (immigration consultant) in Canada.
She is holding my passport and the landing documents right now. I asked her if I could just go and make my landing and she told me that if I would do so there is no guarantee and she would not help me after that.... She also told me about a case of rejection. But I also knew a story about a person who had the same problem but the immigration officer made a correction during the landing process.

I don't know which information to believe and really don't want to get rejected during my landing process.
I just want to make sure my landing goes successfully.

I will keep your advise in my mind as one of the options for sure.

Thank you again.

:D Hi, always be optimistic. You are not the one made the error. Therefore you can argue for your right with the officer, in case he is making a negative sound. Hope it would not be. Another thing is that most of the Consultants are lazy. They don't want to take additional stress for a finalized case because you are not going to pay any thing extra.

Thank you very much! ;D

I think I will give my consultant some more time and if she really doesn't do anything but wait, then I might make my landing as it is and ask the officer to correct it.
I wouldn't feel comfortable with her holding my passport for a long time anyways.

Why don't you try calling the customer line in cic? i wouldn't advice you to go ahead and land without making effort to correct the mistake.Experiences differ.you may or may not have problem at point of entry.you've come a long way. Also try bugging the immigration lawyer nore and see what comes up.I wish you all the best though.

What did the consultant advise you to do?

Where there is an error on the PR visa, you are supposed to notify the issuing visa office immediately and await their advice. It's nice to get advice from people on this forum but this is for EVERYTHING you have worked and waited for! What if you take the chance and you are unlucky and the officer at the POE won't let you land? Do you want to have to start over from ZERO?

Either you or the consultant should fax the visa office immediately with a copy of the PR visa, advise of the error, and ask what you should do. Mark it URGENT and to the attention of the Program Manager. If you don't have a response within 72 hours, fax them AGAIN. And then everyday after that.

If this was an error on the COPR and not the VISA, I wouldn't worry as much. BUT I also wouldn't take the chance or advise someone to take that kind of chance with an error on the VISA. Perhaps CIC will advise you that they have corrected the error in their computer system so you can land with the visa but the officer at the POE will see CORRECT information and everything will be fine. But get instructions from THEM.

Alot of people have already given you good advices. I htink you should try all of them e-g trycalling CIC, fax your visa office with urgent info, talk to your immigration lawyer. Technically it wouldn't sense for the landing officer to refuse you but it again it's not surity. Because what my understanding is they all share teh same system and database. So, if someone makes a change to your file, it will be a permanent change. But as so many people have said to you that you've come a long way and don't wanna waste your time, money and efforts. So explore every possible option.

Good Luck!
