Hello,

When I came home from University today my husband told me that I have received a call by Immigration Canada.
I am new here in this forum. I have applied for Citizenship in May and have allready received AOR.

Since I have signed up here in this forum I am reading some posts (just because for curiosity)..
However I have never read about someone who has received a phone call? I tried to call but it is already closed today (the number that I got).

Has someone already received a call and what was the reason?
I am just curious because I have never read about it in this forum...

Thanks

Yes, many have reported receiving calls from CIC during the citizenship application process.

I did myself, to give me notice that I was scheduled for an interview. I had already seen that I was scheduled in eCas. I cannot recall if I had received the written notice yet at that time or not. And the phone call was actually on a Saturday. This was early 2014.

I have seen many others report phone calls for various reasons. Sometimes it may be to confirm information.

I suspected the call to me was more about verifying the telephone number and seeing who would answer, but of course they never said that was their reason.

It seems early to be scheduled for the test but . . .

In any event, it probably is nothing to worry much about. Worst case scenario is that they are looking for some particular information. Call back during regular hours.

Could be a very good sign actually. But of course no one here can really say what the call is about.

When I went for my test, the CIC officer [very nice btw], spoke with me for about 20 minutes regarding where I lived and what I did here in Canada. Since I have many, many travels in and out of Canada, and was unemployed for part of the time [trigger for my RQ], she said she might contact me for more details.

A week later exactly, while I was at work, I get a call from a Sydney, NS number. It's the CIC officer, and she's asking about stamps on my passports and whether I'm still employed in Canada and why I travelled so often. I answered everything to the point. She finally laughed, said she was late for lunch and hung up.

Three days later I get the oath invitation letter. My interpretation: she wants more information from you which she can't get during the limited time after the test, verify the stuff you said and make sure you are living in Canada.

Best of luck.
