Received 1 year extension

I got a 1 year extension, and I'm wanting to visit my family in December for Christmas. If I leave Canada and go to America, will my 1 year extension be irrelevant when I try to cross the border back into Canada? Does the extension expire once you leave Canada? Also, does leaving Canada affect my PR application in any way? I applied outland

It wont affect your outland application but it will void your extension... you will be issued a new visitors visa at the border reentering
