Hello all,
I have been holding a Manager position with my present employer but without any direct reports. Note that I have been working in this position for the past 2 years. Last week I have been informed by my HR that this Manager position is no longer exists in the restructured organisation, therefore either I could take the lay off or work with a reassigned position with a reduced pay. The revised position has 20% pay cut.

Is this normal in Canada? Kindly advise if I should accept the pay cut and reassigned position.

Yes - this sort of thing can certainly happen when companies restructure either roles or teams. I've seen it happen a number of times at my company. They are effectively giving you the option of either remaining with the company (although in a lower level role) or to accept a termination package.
