Hello everyone,

I am starting this thread to hear from people who recently landed to Canada. What's the real situation there?

I know that the situation may not be the same to everyone but atleast coming from those experiencing "new life" in Canada may help aspiring immigrants to be prepared.

Your inputs will be very very much appreciated.

Thanks,

dear friend..

life is beautiful in Canaa. I m living in canada for the last 5 years. if you want to work in ur field then simply u hve to upgrade ur study. Lots of govt agencies help new immigrants free of cost to settle, they even help to upgrade ur studies at no cost.

However, u hve to start from scratch in canada, it takes time but everybody lives happy life.

bye

Hello jasbir78, if you don't mind me ask; Which State/City/Province offer these free upgrade course and studies and on what educational background are they based on. Sounds really good to explore.
Thanks.

Canada's a big place! I would say, it depends on where you're coming from, and where you go to...

Coming from the States, life is economically kinda tough in Ontario. I find the cost of living is a lot higher than what I'm used to, but salaries are lower. I have student loan debt in the States, so exchange rates keep things interesting. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot I like about living here (I am applying for PR after all, although the endless lunacy of the process makes me question my sanity). But there are trade-offs.

i live in vancouver and PICS is one of the HRDC funded organisation in Surrey which helps new immigrants.
there are lot more like PICS in all over Canada. Just visit there and u will not be disappointed.

Remember one thing: In Canada, no body will tell u unless u ask.

Life is good in Canada but be prepared.

As others have said, canada is a big country and each area is different.

When you come to Canada, get any job you can at first. It will keep your head above water and ait's good chance to meet new people. Canada can be lonely for those who have just arrived. Keep busy.

Best of luck to you.

What's the experience of those who start off with low paying but readily available jobs like MacDonalds when actually they may be highly qualified and still waiting for the real thing?

Thanks

Working at McDonolds gives you experience and exposure to life in Canada. If I moved to your country, I would say it would be a good first job. The trick is, to move up the ranks or have a clear exit plan.
