So when I was on my IEC visa I of course applied for a SIN and received one. The SIN and the SIN card expired with my IEC visa on May 1st,2013.
I applied inland and sent an open work permit appl. with my sponsorship application.

My question is : Once I get AIP & I can work again do I get a new SIN or do I "reactivate" my old SIN?

And once I become a permanent resident and land do I keep my "old" SIN or do I get a new one since I will be a PR ?

I have read somewhere that once a SIN is issued it will never change again.

I think once you get AIP your temporary sin will remain the same as before. Once you land your SIN will change because it will then be a permanent SIN rather than a Temp. I've never had a SIN but I see a lot of the same information floating around on the boards here, so I'm pretty sure that is how it will work. I might be totally off base about the temp SIN staying the same though. I do know for sure that you will get a permanent SIN once landed and the temp work permit SIN will become invalid.

Spikey - you will get a new SIN. A temporary SIN starts with a "9" to indicate it is temporary. Once you become a PR, you will get a permanent SIN that does not start with a "9" (the first number will be dependent on what Province you reside in).

Thank you guys :)
