RE-TRAINING IN CANADA

Hi all

Maybe it's a little early but I'm planning to switch my career after landing in Canada to something of better occupation prospects. What I'm having in mind now is Medical Laboratory Technician in Vancouver. On checking admission requirements of some related local colleges, I found 2 common conditions as follows.
#1 Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
#2 Grade 12 Biology (minimum Grade C)

Anyone with similar experiences please clarify. Is #1 what is known as GED? As for #2 I have no idea where to look for the information. Any share of the links, the learning resources etc will be greatly appreciated.

GED is General Education Diploma, General Equivalency Diploma, or Graduate Equivalency Degree.
It is generally taken when you don't have a high school diploma/certificate. As the name suggest it is equivalant to high school diploma and generally taken by students who are homeschooled, left high school or are unsuccessful in completing the coursework.

In case you are planning to study for lab technician, you need to complete min 12th grade biology. If you have already completed the same in your country than u can directly apply or else you need to studybiology (in high school or equivalant GED course. As you are an adult u'll need to complete GED as u won't get admission in high school)

As far as I know, GED consists of many sections such as Science, Mathematics, Reading, Writing, Social etc. and there are many questions about biology in the Science Section. Therefore, does it mean that by passing the GED, I will clear both requirements? Or is there a specific examination for Biology Grade 12? And what does "grade C" mean?

I had completed high school in my country (including biology, of course), but I'm not sure whether it will be considered as equivalent by the college in Vancouver.

If you have completed your high school you would not be required to give a GED.
Medical related professions are in great demand in Canada so your thinking about switching professions is a good choice.
Once you immigrate you can enroll in community college and than get a transfer to university.
Community college are relaxed as far as admissions are considered.

All you'll need is IELTS.
