RE: Study permit visa from Newyork embassy!

Hello every one,

I have applied for student visa for Ph.D program at University of Calgary. I have submitted my application on September 27th at Newyork Counsulate for Canada. It was mentioned that it will take 30 days to process to the application. I am worried, I did not get any update form the consulate. It would be really helpful if some one can provide me any details in regarding how to approach the consulate through Email??
Normally, how many days it will take to receive the my passport back? will they send any Email before finalizing my Visa? Please post any suggestions regarding this.

1. You should note that the office just re-opened today after being closed for Hurricane Sandy.
2. No, you won't get an email notification.
3. Don't forget their is also the mailing time after the 30 days. And if you are from one of a number of countries, there is an additional 10 days for security checks.

Thank you for your response! Yes, I do understand that they require 30 working days for making any decision and a delay of one week due to sandy but, I was informed that I will receive an email notification once any decision has been made. Should I still expect any Email from them? Is their any other source to get any information after waiting for period of 30 working days plus a week? Please provide me any information possible.
