Hello;

We just received an email for us to hand in my husbands passport for PPR. He is in the U.S. and I am in Canada. They have stamped the temporary visa and based on it my husband has 3 months to move since that visa expires in August 2011.

I urgently need a response regarding the process of what happens when once a person lands. From what I understand, my to husband will have to go to the Canada Border service agency officer at the Port of Entry and present the CPR and passport. He will ask my husband a few questions and THE LETTER STATES THE OFFICER WILL BEGIN THE APPLICATION FOR YOUR PERMANENT RESIDENT CARD.

My question to everyone that has gone through this process is "does the officer give the PR card right away?" or if not, how long does it take for the PR card arrive?

N

No - the officer does not give you the PR card right away.

Assuming there are no problems with the photos, you should receive the PR card in the mail 4-6 weeks after landing.

Hope this helps.

It does! thank you

Keep in mind that they are going to ask him for an address where he will live in Canada so that they mail the PR to that address.

Cheers
