Re Issued Passport Submission

Hi,
I am from India .My wife has applied for student visa and I applied for work permit. We have received the request for passport from cic but now I want to submit my re-issued passort(addition of spouse name). I applied for reissue of passport since my expiry date is in september 2020. If i submit my old passport, the visa would be till then and then i have to extend it for few months. The new passport will have the old passport number on the last page. Will it be an issue as i have filed my application with earlier passport number. Do i need to submit any letter along with both passports while send it to cic through VAC ?

You shouldn't need to submit an additional letter, but you may want to include a note specifying what you've said above.

Thanks for the reply. What do you mean by note? Can I write in on a paper and send it along with the passport?
