Hi There,

I am looking to apply for a PR under CEC and I will be applying for a job that has similar duties as the job title categorized by NOC 1114 as a financial planner. The job title that I will be applying for is called Financial Service Representative(FSR) and it shares some main duties as a financial planner under NOC 1114 except that FSR serve walk in clients rather than assigned individual clients. FSR also open an account, selling and advising banking products, helping walk in clients with banking needs such as investments. The main difference is that financial service representative don't have assigned clients like financial planners do such as manage and analyze accounts.

So, my question is am i still eligible for applying a PR?

Thank you in advance :)

Unfortunately, I think your job would probably be classified as 1433, which is Skill level C (unfairly, I might add).

http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/noc/english/noc/2006/ProfileKeyword.aspx?val=1&val1=1433&val11=financial+service+representative&val12=0&val13=0&val14=&val15=0&val16=0

If you honestly think 1114 is a better fit, ask yourself this - do you receive the salary that a financial planner receives? CIC will look at this...

I am also an FSR, my role includes all the above mentioned plus, selling securities, applying for credits, loc and mortgages and investments.
my role is considered as a supervisor/ sale person
I believe the op is also in the same exact role. if it is the same role we fall under a mix category thats my take on this..
Financial customer service representative is a bank teller role, different institutes have different names for roles..and is not the same is financial service representative
let me know if there are any updates

If you are a supervisor, that is a different matter ...

Thanks everyone for your inputs. I read the NOC description for Financial Customer Representation. This is more of a Bank teller and head teller role. As for the FSR role in my bank, it involves more of a sales side such as opening accounts, selling mutual funds, applying visa, loans, mortgage, etc. We dont do retirement, estate planning, taxes and legal matters. We don't monitor the portfolio to ensure its quality and profitability. And these duties are under NOC 1114 (Financial Planner). However, as FSR, we need to have licences to sell mutual funds, and these licences are called Canadian Securities Course and Investment Funds Canada. NOC 1433 do not need those licences because they just do cash transactions, deposits, problem solver over the counter.

So, my question is am I still eligible under CEC since my duties somewhat match the NOC 1114(Financial Planner) role although I am sure the salary are different.

Thanks again in advance.

The fact that you have a license makes a big difference, if you apply, do NOT forget to include a copy of that with your application.

Your MAIN duties (as confirmed by the letter of employment from your employer) would have to match NOC 1114.

Do some research on the salary issue, just to make sure you are in the ballpark.

The NOC confusion for your type of position has come up over and over again, and CIC has rejected some applicants. So it's a matter of how well you document the financial planner duties...
