re entry visa

Dear friends,
I came to Canada along with my husband on 27th December 2014.i filed for a work permit application along with my husband in India.Since my passport was to expire in august 2014 I only got the visa stamped till July 2014.On the airport they gave me a work permit attached to my passport with the validity till January 2016.I applied for a new passport in Canada and then I called up cic .i asked them if I need to e tend my work visa they told me since my work visa is valid till January 2016 I only need a reentry visa if I need to go out of the country.
My question is that can I apply for the re entry visa after it expires in July if I decide to go out of the country sometime next year..

Sure you can apply for TRV from inside Canada. But as you already know, that is only needed if you need to travel outside of Canada and come back.

Thank u so much but can I apply it anytime say this year end as I might visit India only next year.The visa that was stamped on my passport expires July 31.

Sure you can apply any time only having enough time to safely get visas before you travel date. You do not need a trv to stay in side Canada as long as you have a valid work permit. Hope that helps.
