Hello,

My girlfriend of now 9 months is a Dutch citizen. She first came to Canada on September 12th 2013. On the immigration agreement with the EU she is allowed to stay for a period of 6 months. This means that she would have to leave Canada by March 12th 2014. Part way through we applied for a Vistor Record which now allows her to stay in Canada until November 17th 2014.

This is where the problem comes in, she had to go back to the Netherlands to take the final exams for her bachelor program. She is now back there are planning on returning to Canada on Feb 15th. We are wondering if doing this will create any problems for her on re-entry. She has the vistor record along with all of the supporting paper work that allowed for the extension to be granted.

We have been told that she shouldn't have any problems re-entering the country as she had gotten the extension before hand as well as having all of the documents that helped her get the extension (financial support proof, return ticket for before the extension expires, as well as all of the documentation required to apply for a work permit if we can find a company that is willing to go through the LMO process). From reading the forums we see that it is hit or miss and really up to the CIC agent at the border but we just want to make sure that she has the best shot possible at getting back into Canada.

Any comments or information anyone could provide would be very helpful!

1. As soon as she left Canada, here visitor permit expired.
2. So her next entry is a new entry and it depends how much time she will be give.

Hello Badrobot,
I am not an speciallist in inmigration, but I am in a similar situation to your girlfriend and I am trying to get all the information about it. As I can see it, and you said, everything depends on the CIC agent. Maybe it could happen that they ask her a couple of questions or be a little bit more rough. What I think is that if everything is normal, they should let her enter the country.

Good luck ;)
