Re-entry Canada question

Hi guys,
sorry to bother you but I don't get a hold of anyone on the CIC hotline.
I got my work permit extension which says "this does not authorize re-entry". It was also written on my first work and holiday visa, re-entering after spending christmas and new years in Germany was no problem...
My employer wants to send me to Mexico and the Dominican Republic to get some work done there.
Will I be able to re-enter Canada? I just need to be 100% sure!!!

Isn't my work permit the same as a TRV!?!
It is valid until November 2014, valid for just one employer (which I work for) and just for one profession (which I do work in).
So I think everything is correct and ready to go.
I am also having an application for my Permanent Residence being processed in Ottowa. That all started in March 2012 through the BC PNP.
It would just be really bad if I go to work in Mexico or the DR for my employer and then can't re-enter into Canada and go back to my office work...
Anybody any experience with that?

Hi there, a work permit authorizes you to legally work in Canada. A TRV authorizes travel and (generally) entry to Canada for periods of limited stay. Two separate things.

Are you German? If so, you're visa exempt so you don't need a TRV.

From your description, you have a closed WP - with those, the location of work is specified and not usually changeable, i.e. if your employer sends you to work in other places, that's most likely outside the bounds of your WP and hence not permitted. Double-check the full terms of your WP before going ahead.

That's correct! As a German citizen you don't need a TRV to enter Canada. You can ignore that message on your visa
an re-enter Canada as many times you want.

I think you can't check your status, but you can go to the CIC website or just google "application processing times" and you will find some information.

i hope you can help me too. my visa and work permit are expiring soon. i have an open work permit and did apply for PR under live in caregiver program. how do i go about extending the visa and work permit. and is that going to affect my PR application.

Hi Jesse5,
look for something called "Application to change conditions or extend your stay in Canada as a worker".
That should help.
That's what I did. I already applied for the PR and told CIC I needed an extension of my work visa until I get the PR. They gave me a 2 year extension for the work visa, BUT just valid for my employer. So I can't work for anyone else...
