Hi all,

I'm planning to return to Canada to find work with an expired TRV and a valid Post Grad Work Permit. I have taken advantage of the TRV exception regulation many times while working in the states in the past year. However now that I'm neither employed in the states nor receiving (yet) any solid job offer from a Canadian employer, what are the chances that a border officer would turn me away? Has anyone experienced troubles trying to enter Canada with an open work permit but no job offer?

Any input will be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Hi Jake,

If you have an open work permit, then it shouldn't be a problem given that you said you have taken advantage of the TRV exception regulation.
I'd suggest you to apply for the TRV again with your valid work permit and then visit canada to be on the safer side.
Since you have a post grad work permit, which is an open work permit that allows you to enter and search for jobs, you wont have a problem even if you dont have a job. But the TRV might me a problem for you.
