Hi there,

I am currently in a difficult situation. Any sort of advise will be really appreciated.

To give you some background:My Post grad work permit expired on June 6, 2012. I have applied for a new work permit before the expiry. My application was rejected due to lack of document and I was given a temporary resident status until June 22, and asked to apply for restoration within 90 days. I have applied for restoration in a week and am still waiting to hear back from them.

On the other hand, in June 2011, I applied for Permanent Residence under the Canadian Experience Class. I have been called for an interview on October 16, in the Canadian Consulate office in New York.

Now, because I do not have a valid permit/document, I am concerned if there are risks of refusing me admission into Canada from USA. I have spoken to cic and a few immigration lawyers/consultants and they said that there is a 50/50 chance of refusing entry at the border. But I was advised to carry a copy of the forms and a receipt of the restoration fees that I paid.

Could someone please advise me on the situation? Did anyone else experience a similar situation? Please help.

Thank you in advance.

Assuming you need a TRV to enter Canada, and you would have no status in Canada once you leave for the interview, there is almost no chance that you would be re-admitted as a visitor.
