Hi there,

I hope that you can help as I have tried calling the Canadian High Comm but to no avail.

I had a 6 month visa for 10th Jan until 9th July this year (just a normal stamped passport) and entered on the 10th and left a few days or so before my visa exit date expired.

I am waiting to start work in a couple of weeks' time in Europe and since there has been a delay with my starting date I was thinking about going back into Canada for a week to see my partner (who I met whilst I was in Canada last time) as we won't see each other for a few months so this is a great time to see each other!

However, I have heard that because I have already spent 6 months in Canada this year already I am not allowed back in for the same amount of time.

Can someone please enlighten me to whether I can go back in for a few, next week? Naturally I don't want to pay an airfare, get all the way there only to be refused entry!

Thank you

have you tried this and did they let you in?

I recently got denied re-entry at the Canadian border after being in Canada for 6 months and attempting to return. I was attempting to return as I had a canadian work visa in progress which only had maybe 4 weeks more of processing time, and didn't want to return to the UK for a short period before the work visa was processed.

It would be interesting to here how you got on, as the border officer told me you could only visit for 6 months each year, however CIC said there's no set period of time you must leave canada before returning, as long as you can show that you are there to visit and will leave the country.

I only left canada for 2 days before trying to return.

thanks.
