My mother has a valid super visa granted in 2019 valid till 2027, she has been staying with us in Canada for 3 years now (Original 2 years stay + 1 year extension). We did not get the extension this year, as we mistakenly thought as per new rules, she can stay up to 5 years(Enhancements to the super visa program for parents and grandparents will help reunite families more easily and for longer - Canada.ca ). We found out at the border that above rules do not apply to her as she got her super visa before July 2022.
We tried getting an extension by visiting US and coming back via Lewiston-Queenston bridge land border, but the CBSA staff said they cannot do the extension as the super visa stay extension has to be done online. They gave us a temporary stay for 2 weeks so that she can leave Canada before then.
We are now planning to take her back home to India for a month or so and then re-enter again in Canada on Super Visa.
Can someone help us and confirm how long she has to stay in her home country before returning back to Canada? We are thinking doing a 1 month stay at her home country.
