Re-entering at a port of entry to obtain the permanent resident status.

Hi
I am hopping i could get my answer here with so many helpful users rather than calling the helpline 20 times.
Here my situation. I need to re-entering canada to obtain my permanent resident status. But i am holding a Thai passport which are not on US visa waiver program.
I wondering if I need an US visa just to enter and re-enter canada? you know without going into US.
I would be very thankful if someone that been in this situation before could help me with it.

You can go to the border and do what they call flagpoling, where you don't actually intend to enter the U.S....just tell them you're at the border to re-enter Canada so you can land, and they'll direct you to where you can turn after. If you have any questions about it, there are a lot of topics on the forums about it, so you can search for the term and see what other people have asked and responded.
