Pre-Assessed..
Hi,

I just received an email from CIC, with RCMP request today (exactly one month after 1st AOR).

Oddly, it only asks for RCMP check for myself (PA) and not for my wife. Question 1: Did anyone have any similar experiences ? Should I include my wife as well or only do it for myself ?

Question 2: Secondly, the RCMP requests the address of the visa office handling my application, what should i put here (I'm inland FSW applicant). What do i need to input here ? (see text below from RCMP website).
"Applications for immigration to Canada must include the name and address of the Canadian Immigration Center, Embassy, Consulate or High Commission handling the case in the "Name and Address of Contributing Agency/Department" portion of the form."

Question 3: Am I correct in assuming that the RCMP check has to be sent to me (my mailing address) and not directly to CIC ? It requests me to upload it to MyCIC account.

Any help is appreciated.

Regards

RCMP checks (finger-print based) are required when a name-based check fails to clear you (CIC does name-based checks for ALL applicants). In other words, you have the same name as a criminal : )

So, if your wife's check was clear, she won't be asked for an RCMP check. You only need to do what CIC asks you to do.

Not sure what the question is - "what's my visa office?" or "what's the address of my visa office?" You can find the info on CIC website -

Yes.

thank you, your information is very helpful.

Trust me it would be easier to win the lottery than to find someone with the exactly same name as I do (multiple surnames) even on my home country, so to find one that happens to be in a criminal database in Canada, is nearly impossible. I'm guessing the name-based check may have failed because of my very long full last name (it does not fit on my Canadian driver's license for example, so it is possible it will be too long for their database) or because of partial matches (someone with the same first name and only one of my surnames). Or I have committed a crime recently which I'm unaware of :)

Yes name match is only one criteria. There might be others. For eg I know people who visited China for long time have been asked for RCMP. Me and my friend both got it.

For info - I just returned from a local police station in Calgary and they no longer to fingerprinting for RCMP checks. I need to find one of the companies that do digital fingerprinting...
