Hello Everyone,

This forum has been a guiding light in my application process, and the North Star to my sanity. So thanks to everyone that regularly contribute.

I recently received a fingerprint request with RCMP background check. It seems like this is not the normal process for most people - has anyone else been asked this? Could you shed light as to why it may have been requested? Any insight on what this means for processing time?

Thanks!

generally this request is sent when someone has lived in canada for more than 6 months.. the requirements are that you provide a police record check for ALL countries you lived in for more than 6 months since the age of 18... have you been here fore 6 or more months?

Thanks for the response. At the time that the application was received (Jan 30th), it was around 4 months. As of May, well over 6 months. My understanding was that police clearance is required based on date of application, not anticipated stay.
