Hey everyone,

Today I got a request in my account to go get a RCMP criminal record check even though I am only a visitor to Canada. Just wondering if this happened to anyone else.

I also got a requested to pay the right to permanent residence fee.

Can I send both of these by webform, or should they both be sent by local mail?

As well, will the accept me at a police station as an American. I am on implied status I am pretty sure because I sent a Visitor Extension application in June before by 6 months expired.

More than 6months in Canada you need an RCMP paper. It says on the app.

I never had the pleasure to look at my online application, my lawyers did that :D

You can look at how the RCMP doc looks like you can enter the details once you receive yours. Since you have 2 place I would say (common sense speaking) upload the the same at both places ;)

Thank you, Wife is calling cic call centre anyways. It is a bit confusing about where to send them. On the letter is says mail or webform. But then on the paper with my info for the rcmp to send directly to cic at the address indicated. But then I have a place to upload it 2 different areas on the account. Maybe its just options.

@kcward7 I did not pay it upfront. It was requested with a rcmp background check on July 3rd. Does this mean it was approved and is in the final stages?
what it states is this:

The Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF) is paid by permanent resident applicants when their applications are approved. Permanent residence status is not granted until the RPRF is paid.

The RPRF applies to all permanent residence applicants except:

  • dependent children of a principal applicant or sponsor, a child to be adopted, or an orphaned brother, sister, niece, nephew or grandchild; and
  • Protected Persons, including Convention refugees.
The RPRF can be paid at the same time as your application fees to help reduce delays during processing. If you don’t pay the RPRF up front, we will contact you with instructions on how to pay.

If you paid the RPRF up front and your application is not approved, it will be refunded

to me this indicates that UNTIL YOU PAY IT a decision WILL NOT be made... it COULD be that it is in the final stages, or it could not. several people have waited months after this request... it also states that if you are NOT approved, it will be refunded... so i dont think there is really a correlation to a final decision. i think you like your wife are over analyzing this request. No one can say definitively what stage your application is in. have you ordered your notes? you will get more insight to your application from them.

Notes were order last week. Seeming like they take a while to be received. It is paid now. They just requested it a few days ago. Now just waiting for the rcmp results. Thank you for your reply.
