R133(1)(g)(i) social assistance problem......... need help????

Hi friends
Needs some advise regarding R133(1)(g)(i).

I am canadian citizen and I am from Alberta.
And I have sponsered my 2nd wife from india.
After submitting file for sponsership, after 3 months I got letter from canada immigration department that I am not eligible for sponsership as my x-wife have ask for social assistance in income support centre.
But still immigration department has forwarded file to Delhi embassy.
In letter they said that once I pay my default assistance, a copy of confirmation will be amended to my file in immigration file I have paid all assistance and now I am eligible for sponsership.

But unfortunatelly I am in india right now and I am going back to canada in January ending.

I called the number given in letter but they told they can't tell anything on phone.

So what to do ??????
Please give some advise.

I believe you have to explain everything and attach any proof by email. That's the easiest and fast way to tell the CIC.

My question to you is when did you marry your first wife. And did you not know she went on welfare. Did you ever get a letter or notice from welfare saying You will have to pay back if you sponsor again or that younare responsible for her being on welfare ??

Did you check with welfare to see if your name was on records from welfare or CIC before you filed for your second wife ??

I did checked with them first and they said my name is cleared but I still have that bad feeling inside me about all this - now knowing that it was a surprise to you makes me feel even wrost !!!!

And why did they forward your file to VO is that because you indicated on your application if you are not eligible to sponsor they can still send the file to VO

This could be a large amount of money to pay back depending how long they collected welfare, so wrong of them to do their spouses this

And to answer your question, you should send them proud of payment so they can clear your name and make you egliable to sponsor your new wife

Hi

No I have never recieved any letter stating that I have to pay for my spouse welfare. I have never recieved any letter I come to know after sponsering 2nd wife.

I am in india and I just recieved a letter stating that.
I called Income Support Contact Centre canada. From india. And they told that I have to go to canada for this issue.
But unfortunatelly I am in india now for one more month upto Dec 30. I will reach canada on January 1.

And I don't how long delhi embassy will take to open file.they recieved file on Nov 30 in Delhi.

Do you have any idea that how long they take to open file ???
Do I have to go to canada in urgent to solve this prob.??? Because they are not giving any information on phone.

Please help me out.

When did you divorce your first wife? Was there a judgement that you pay her support? Did you pay the support? What are the reasons she went on social assistance? Did you sponsor her to come to Canada? How long ago was that and how long after did you divorce?

I got divorce in 2011.
I sponser her in 2009.
It was in edmonton , Alberta.
In my judgement I don't have to pay any support. Because our marriage was only for a year and she was doing job all the time.
I am paying child support every month as per rules.
I don't know the reason why she went on social assistance. Even don't when she went on social assistance. And not recieved any letter or any information for government also regarding that.

Hi there

I don't think you need to come back urgent. What I think is you will need to deal with the matter if you want to continue to sponsor your new wife. I believe they will need proof of payment before they continue to process your file then you should be good (only if you indicated in the form that you want the file to go through if you are denied SA)

I feel your pain and I hope to god this doesn't happen to me. Im waiting for my AOR And wil know then.

I can say for sure I did call social assistance before I submitted my package to see if my name is in their records for owning any money concerning if my ex was on welfare,

I found out my name is not in their computers - but who knows ???
I hope you don't have to pay back a lot and did CIC tell you in the letter how much you owe or did they just say call social services

I also found out for CIC you can fight this situation if you never was aware if her being in social assistance or if you never received a letter from government saying that you owed, because if that was the case you would gave paid it back way before you try to sponsor again - take that root my friend !!!

I wish you the best my friend I don't wish this on nobody it is not nice at all especially because you are still paying child support to - so unfair for you and now this - smh

Just deal with it and get your new wife to canada

Ya cic letter just say call income support center. They don't says amount to pay.

I called them and they don't give any information to me over phone. I am trying from last 4 days.

And I don't want delhi embassy to open file before I pay it. So worried about it.

I know for sure when you call them they will research the amount that is owning - I pray shes still not on social assistanc . ( how long was your undertaking for 3 or 10 years responsibility ???) (mine was 10!years from 2001 to 2011)

You will need to deal with this matter asap when you return to Canada because social assistance takes time to get back to you about how much is owning. Once you pay, they will give you a letter stating you are cleared

The letter you will give CIC (only if your file is still open) if your file gets closed you will have to resubmit your application and enclose the letter of complete payment to CIC

I know what a headache !!!

So I have to now repay.

You could possibly hire a lawyer in Canada to deal with this. He or she could find out the amount owing, and you could then pay it, get the proof of payment, and submit it to the visa office to be added to your file.

If you call Social assistance Overpayment department they will tell you if your name is in their system for owning andctell you how much owe
Try calling them ( there number is on CIC website)

Hi friends I called service canada they told they don't have my name on record.

I called Income Support Contact Centre they gave me more numbers , I called all of them but not getting any information.

Little bit worried . Don't know what to do now. I feels like no one knows anything in canada government that where exactly I have to call regarding this.
