Good afternoon, I hope you can help me:
I have an specific employer work permit, I am thinking in quit the job, i´ve been working 3 months. I´ve read that I can still stay in Canada for the whole duration of the work visa but I can not work with any other employer, is that correct?

Also I want to know what happen if I find a new employer? Can i apply for a new work permit? Is important to say that i applied for the first one in the Young Professional Program. What do I need to do?

Thank you so much.

Yes, you can stay in Canada - but you will not be able to work for another employer.

If you want to work for another employer, you will first have to find an employer who is willing to offer you a full time job. That employer will then have to obtain an approved LMIA. To do this, they will first have to advertise the job for at least a month to prove no Canadian could be found for the role. They will then have to pay a $1,000 fee and submit the LMIA for processing which will likely take 2-4 months. If the LMIA is approved (not all are), you can then apply for a closed work permit tied to that specific employer.

I will try to find a new employer before quiting your job. I know a person that a new work permit was refused as she could not prove how she manage to pay for all her bills without working under the table. She was deported and got an exclusion order. If you have lots of money in your bank account, then take the chance and quit. Finding a new employer is not as easy as you thing .

My employer is very new with foreign workers, so he doesn't know what he needs to do in order to inform if im not longer working with him. Call service canada? revenue quebec? we are in Quebec province by the way.

Service Canada will know when he submits your record of employment. No need to notify anyone .
