Hello, I will be going to india to get married to my fiance, she is a indian citizen living in india and I am a Canadian PR.

Before I leave to india I have a few questions, any kind of help will be appreciated.

1. Is their any type of mandatory residency required to live in india before or after marriage, if I am a NRI?

2. Will I be needing a police clearance from India aswell?

3. I only plan on sponsoring wife, will all her family members also be required to do a medical exam and police clearance?

4. I was reading the immigration guide and saw this form -- (Additional Family Information (IMM 5406) - You and each of your family members 18 years of age) - so this means each member of her family needs to fill this form or just her?

5. same with this form --- Schedule A - Background/Declaration (IMM 5669) - You and each of your family members 18
years of age or older must complete their own copy of this form.
-- all of her family members needs to fill this form?

6. Do I and my spouse need original birth certificates? are they mandatory or can we have other form of government ID?

All help is appreciated, thank you.

1. As a PR, you must reside in Canada throughout the entire sponsorship process.

2. The sponsor doesn't require PCCs.

3, 4, 5. Family members refers only to spouse and dependent children that are not already Canadian citizens or PRs.

6. Check your country specific guide.

'Family member' has a special definition for Canadian immigration. It means your spouse, common-law or conjugal partner, and any dependent children. So only your wife has to get a medical, and only your wife has to fill out IMM 5406 and IMM 5669. However, IMM 5406 is asking about her 'additional family', so she has to list her parents and all siblings on this form.
