Hi, myself and my partner are currently giving serious consideration to applying for PR in Canada. My Question is with regards to skilled jobs. I myself am a Zoo Keeper (28 Years Old) in the UK for the past 3 years and i have a 2 Year FdSc Welfare in Animals Degree & ND in Zoo Management & My Wife is a Primary School Teacher (27 Years old) and has been for 5 years now with a BA Honours Degree in English Lit & Language with a Qualified Teacher Status. After consulting the internet, it would seem she is a skilled worker but i couldnt see if i was. I was wondering if anyone could advise on the job & if it is considered a skilled job or what code rating is it?

Thanks in advance

Ian

Neither of you qualify for the Federal 29 NOC.

You can check whether your occupation is listed here:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/tool/tool_06.asp

I don't see Zoo keeper or any related to animals, also, teaching at the COLLEGE level was removed a few months ago.

You might want to try Quebec.

Hi, Thanks for the very quick reply...So with our current jobs and qualifications we stand no chance of immigration to Canada? If our jobs aren't on the Federal NOC 29 list does that mean you have little or no chance? What other routes can we go down? Would that be ensuring we have valid offers of emplyment? Also could i ask...if for instance my wife passed the application and had a job offer prior to going and had enough points BUT i didnt have offer of employment, do i still get to go (whilst i search for employment there) :-)

Sorry for my naivety, as im just getting my head around this immigration stuff ;D

Thanks

Ian

1. You would require an Approved Employment Offer from a company in Canada that applies to HRSDC stating that they will employ you once you receive your PR status. See: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who-employment.asp

You can't go through the 'General' Fast Track Federal Skilled Worker.

There are other two options through the Federal Level: Canadian Experience Class or having an approved by HRSDC (Human Resources and Social Development of Canada) Job offer.

The first one you need to have studied (post secondary) for two years and having at least one year full time experience

The second one you need to have an approved job offer from a Canadian employer.

Besides the Federal you can also try Quebec which has a little bit more relaxed laws but you need to learn FRENCH.

Just wanted to add: you can also try applying as a provincial nominee.
