Quick Extended Stay Visa Question

I'm an US citizen currently staying with my wife in BC. I applied for Extended Stay and received it approved a few weeks ago. Tomorrow I'm going down into the states for a trip to visit my parents.

My question is, on the Extended Stay application I received it says: This Does Not Authorize Re-entry, does this mean I can be turned away at the border for no reason or just if I say I'm going to be doing something I shouldn't be (IE. Looking for work without a work-permit, etc)?

Any help on calming my nerves about traveling would be great.

You can be turned away at the border for no reason (rare but certainly possible). Whether you are allowed in or not and for how long is up to the immigration officer you encounter when you arrive.

Okay, that makes sense. I'm just confirming that the purpose of the extended stay is to basically treat me as if I were before I needed it. If they let me in before they'll let me in now.

The extension is invalidated as soon as you leave the country and when you re-enter Canada you will be assessed no differently than any other visitor.

The fact they let you in before does not guarantee they will let you in again. However you should be fine given you're a US citizen. Just to be safe, bring documentation that demonstrates you have ties to the US. Don't volunteer this information. But you should have it with you in case any questions come up.
