Questions to Clarify for Online Applications

Hi Everyone

I had a few questions that I wanted to clarify for my online application.

1. 1. Has XYZ received a nomination certificate from a province or territory?

For this question, I have presently chosen "No". I did receive a notification from Ontario. However, I did not accept the OINP nomination.

My question is, is my choice correct?

2. In my personal history form, I wanted some input/clarity:

a) In July 2013, I moved to the US to pursue higher education. Since in July 2013, I was neither employed, nor studying (school started from Aug), should I create an entry in personal history in the "Other" or "Unemployed" category in order to not have any gaps?

b) My last day in my previous job was the 1st of September, 2016. My 1st day in my next job was the 26th of September. In between, I was waiting for my visa to get processed. My question here, is, do I need to mention that time frame in the personal history as "unemployed"? The reason I am asking is because the employment and educational history are based on Month and Year. Not on Date/Day. Therefore, as per that, it seems like I didn't have any gaps, but as per the actual dates, I see that there is a gap of 1.5 months or so.

c) My name according to my passport is written the following way:

First Name: Full Name
Last Name: My fathers name

But in my school and college certificates, only my Full Name has been used.

Do I mention this in the LOE or in the "Other Names Used" section?

d) Do I have to mention my internship during my MBA too? The educational period is covered between 2013 and 2015, in the education section. My internship was during the summer break in 2014.

Could you please help clarify my questions? Thank you!

Hi Everyone

You should select 'No'. You received the nomination, but not the certificate since you didn't accept the nomination and complete the application process.

My question is, is my choice correct?

a) In July 2013, I moved to the US to pursue higher education. Since in July 2013, I was neither employed, nor studying (school started from Aug), should I create an entry in personal history in the "Other" or "Unemployed" category in order to not have any gaps?
I would put 'Unemployed' and then just state in the explanation 'Waiting for studies to begin'

b) My last day in my previous job was the 1st of September, 2016. My 1st day in my next job was the 26th of September. In between, I was waiting for my visa to get processed. My question here, is, do I need to mention that time frame in the personal history as "unemployed"? If you're submitting employment reference letters that state the days, I would include the record of 'unemployed' in your personal history. Actually, even if the days aren't in your employment reference letters, I would do it anyway. You never know what could turn up in the background check :) Better to disclose minutia than to miss disclosing something IRCC deems important

c) My name according to my passport is written the following way:

First Name: Full Name
Last Name: My fathers name

But in my school and college certificates, only my Full Name has been used.

Do I mention this in the LOE or in the "Other Names Used" section?

Not sure about this; hopefully someone else on the forum can assist with this. Perhaps both?

d) Do I have to mention my internship during my MBA too? The educational period is covered between 2013 and 2015, in the education section. My internship was during the summer break in 2014.

Yes mention your internships. I mentioned all of mine. Again, you never know what will come up in your background checks and you don't want IRCC to think you had a reason for not disclosing it.

Could you please help clarify my questions? Thank you!

Hi wickerman,
I will try my best to answer your questions to the best of my knowledge, or how I would handle the situation. My answers are below your questions in red.
