Hello,
I have some questions about sponsoring my husband's parents. We are not 100% if they will permanently immigrate here because we are waiting for his brother to decide if he would like to move to Canada. However, his parents would like to visit/ stay with us to be with our children. We were thinking that getting PR would be better than constantly having to go through the SUPERVISA process and in case they decide to permanently immigrate.
His parents do not speak English; dad is 60 yrs old and mom is 50 yrs old.
1. Is it correct that they do not need to speak English or French?
2. If approved; that means they come as PR?
If yes, is there a rule on how long they need to stay in Canada or else they will lose their PR?
3. Does the PR expire?
If yes, does it mean that their PR conditions are some as any other PR person? Or does it not apply to them because they went through Family Sponsorship?
4. Can they get Citizenship (dual)?
I see that there are language requirements etc. (and many other rules) for Citizenship; but since they are coming through Family Sponsorship...does this still apply?
Thank you.
