Dear Sir or Madam,
First of all, please accept my sincere appreciation for your time and contribution.
I'm applying for my PR by being sponsored by my wife.
On the form IMM 0008, I'm requested to fill the information, such as, (1) the current country of residence; (2) common-law background;
Here is my situation:
I'm a Chinese holding a 10-year multi-entry Visitor VISA. I do not work in China nor Canada, but in an African country, Republic of Chad, for a Chinese company conducting petroleum activities since 2012.
In March 2016, my wife(a PR) and I both returned to Toronto (both of us studied here from 2006) and purchased our first real estate property. After that, my wife stays and works in Scarborough Ontario, while I travel back and forth between Toronto and Chad(to work).
My regular rotation is 3 months in the field (Chad) and 1 month vacation during when I return to Toronto.
Q1: In this case, for the Item No. 10 on the form, "Current country of residence", should I fill in "Canada"(the place I live) or "Chad"(the place I work).
Q2: My wife and I knew each other since 2006 in a highschool in Toronto. We had entered and kept a common-law relationship (living together, sharing bills and basically everything) until I was summoned by a relative and left to China after graduation in 2011. Should I fill/mention this "common-law relationship" background for the Item No. 14 of this form?
Q3: Since there is no Canadian embassy in Chad(only a consulate) and I'm not planning to visit China until we get a baby, I guess I'm better applying under the "Spouse in Canada Class"? instead of "outside of Canada under Family Class"(in which case, as I assume, I have to go to China for interview?)
Q4: I've got my Police Certificate for China and Chad. However, both of them have a effective duration of only 3 months(to the mid of May). Thus, if I'm submitting my application by the mid of April, do you think I may be requested to get new certificates,if the previous one(s) expire?
Q5: on some forms, should I fill the "UCI" number or should I leave it blank? (I checked my Study Permit which was granted in 2006, there is a 8 digital number called "Client ID")
Your help is grateful.
Best regards,
Mr. L
