Questions regarding IEC

Hey there,

I'm a malaysian student in Germany and have recently found a work placement as part of my study in Canada via my university in Germany. I would like to apply for the IEC visa under International Co-op category. However, the malaysian government has no an agreement/arrangement with canadian government in this IEC program. So, my questions are:

1. Since Malaysia is not in the list of countries under the IEC program, I would need to use one of the recognized organizations(RO) to get myself eligible in applying for the visa. But apparently, I have gotten this job offer from Canada without any RO. What should I do to make myself eligible in this case?

2. I have been staying in Germany for the past 3 years. Is it possible for me to apply for this in Germany? as my country of permanent residence is still Malaysia. I got confused reading through the informations on the internet.

3. I'm still a registered student in a university in Germany. There is a question in the questionnaire asking if I'm still a student in a college/university in the country of my citizenship. I suppose the answer should be 'no' right?

1. It's mandatory for you to go through an RO if you want to go the IEC route. You'll need to start by contacting an RO. I would pick the one that most closely matches the job you've secured in Canada. If you want to avoid working with an RO, then you would need to obtain a closed work permit which requires your employer in Canada to obtain an approved LMIA. The LMIA process is very long and expensive for the employer with no guarantee of approval. I would try to avoid it and go the IEC route.

2. Yes - you can apply from Germany.

3. Answer is "no".

I would like to ask if there is a difference between IEC Working Holiday visa and International Cooperation visa. I mean in term of duration to process the visa. Some people saying that working holiday visa takes longer time in processing the visa, because one has to wait in the pool to get selected. And for Co-Op visa, one will get to the next round automatically as long as there is a vacancy.
