Hi

PR Cards expiry - My PR card will expire in a few months, and I have no intention to renew as I do not have immediate plans to travel. But, I noticed that PR card ( both sides) is required for submission for citizenship application. Will it become an issue for me later because of expired PR card?

It is not necessary to have a current PR card to apply for citizenship. However, if you plan to travel (other than to the U.S. by car) before you take the oath, you will need to renew your PR card after you apply for citizenship. That's if, as I assume, you plan to apply for citizenship in the near future. If you return to Canada from the U.S. by car, you can use your COPR as proof of PR status.

Please read the following link;
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/become-eligibility.asp

It states that:

You do not need to have a PR card to apply for citizenship. If you have a PR card, but it is expired, you can still apply for citizenship.

you need to provide the copy (front and back) of your current PR card (either valid or expired) . it is also a picture ID which they ask in the citizenship application.

I am applying in 28 May 2015 so I am in the middle of this documentation......!

Besides the current PR card I also have an expired one, I'm wondering if I should include it as well?
