Questions on Supporting documents for Sponsored Persons

Hi,

I am sponsor living in the US and my wife (principal applicant) is staying with me. In the new sponsorship application that came out recently, I am looking at this section on Page 4: Supporting documents for Sponsored Persons (Principal Applicant and All Family Members) and I have some questions.

In this section, it is asking to include the passport copies, birth certificates, national identity cards. However, the context "family members" seems a little bit vague to me.

Since they have asked us to include the documents (passport copies, birth certificates, national identity cards) from the principal applicant and all family members, do I (sponsor) also have to include my passport, birth certifcates, national identity card etc. since I am also a family member (based on what I read from the website). Please advise.

Thanks in advance.

I also just posted about this. You do have to provide your birth certificate/passport, but its in your sponsor application. What is vague to me is, do we have to get birth certificates of brothers/sisters/parents of the principal applicant?

I don't think so because from what I read from the website:
An applicant’s closest relatives, in the context of an application. It is defined as a spouse or common-law partner, dependent children, and their dependent children.

See section 1(3) of the IRPR for the legal definition.

That should help you.
